Comedian Robert Schimmel, 60, has died from injuries sustained in a car crash involving his family.
Schimmel died Friday evening in a Phoenix hospital, according to his representative, Howard Bragman.
Schimmel was a passenger Thursday in a car driven by his 19-year-old daughter Aliyah Schimmel, according to The Associated Press. Bragman said Aliyah Schimmel swerved to avoid another car and the vehicle she was driving rolled to the side of the freeway.
Aliyah Schimmel is hospitalized in stable condition, according to Bragman.Â Â Robert Schimmel’s 11-year-old son, who wasÂ also in the car, wasÂ released without injuries the same day, according to TMZ.
Robert Schimmel was aÂ frequent guest on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and on Howard Stern’s radio show. His 2008 memoir, “Cancer on $5 a Day,” chronicled his battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
