It is moments like Ellen Degeneres’ guest appearance on “So You Think You Can Dance” that make television enjoyable, live television still a must-see, and the internet and YouTube videos invaluable. Â If you missed the popular talk show host’s dance routine with “So You Think You Can Dance” all-star Twitch Thursday evening, fear not. Â Captured on video and available for playing and replaying, the ‘dance superstar’ has immortalized herself by hip hopping her way across the stage during the Season 7 finale of the popular dance reality show. Â She filled in for the injured Alex Wong (who injured his leg in Week 4 of the competition) and, probably the most surprising thing of all, proved she’s actually a pretty good dancer.
“As a joke, I said this would be fun to do,” she explained to Cat Deeley after the routine. Â She had called Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer and judge of “So You Think You Can Dance,” and offered her inestimable dance skills. Â She was accepted.
And on a serious note, the comedian who danced her way into America’s living rooms and hearts over the last few years showed that she could really bust a move on the dance floor. Â Both well done and funny at times, the routine was pure Ellen Degeneres. Â And with the help of all-star dance great Stephen “Twitch” Boss at her side, she made it one of the most memorable moments in “So You Think You Can Dance” history.
Crowning the Season 7 winner (Lauren Froderman) was almost anti-climactic after that performance.
