“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 7 Winner Is…

Considering all the press given Kent Boyd and Lauren Froderman before the Season 7 finale Thursday night, it was nearly a foregone conclusion that they would be the final two contestants on “So You Think You Can Dance.”  And with all the screaming whenever Kent took the stage, Lauren Froderman’s chances of being the “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 7 winner didn’t look good, either.  So when Robert Roldan was announced the number three dancer for the season, everything seemed to be falling into place — as expected.  But the “So You Think You Can Dance” finale would prove to have a few surprises…

The judges brought back all their favorite dance routines from the season.  Alex Wong surprisingly made the finale and was incorporated in big opening number, albeit from a sitting position (Alex injured his leg in Week 4 of the competition).

Wong would participate in the second surprise as well.  “So You Think You Can Dance” host Cat Deeley had kept setting the hook throughout the show that a surprise ‘dance legend’ would perform and, just before they announced the Season 7 winner, the ‘dance legend’ was unveiled in a number that involved Season 4’s legend Stephen “Twitch” Boss.   During the season, the number had included Alex Wong, but with his injury, a replacement was necessary.

Enter: ‘dance legend’ Ellen Degeneres.  And although the woman is always clowning around, she seriously pulled off some good dance moves on the stage.  They incorporated a couple of slapstick maneuvers in the routine and literally stole they entire show.

But the finale wasn’t over.  “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 7 still had to crown a winner.  Cat Deeley called Kent Boyd and Lauren Froderman back to center stage.

Surprise number three: Kent came in second.  Lauren Froderman was named the “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 7 winner — America’s Favorite Dancer.
