The two-hour finale of Season 7 “So You Think You Can Dance” was, appropriately enough, a dance-laden affair, and host Cat Deeley kept setting the hook that before the show ended, a surprising ‘dance legend’ would perform. Â And when the ‘dance legend’ appeared, Cat Deeley couldn’t have been more correct in her description. Â On the other side of the door, dancing with another “So You Think You Can Dance” dance legend, Twitch, was none other than Ellen Degeneres. Â Regardless of what might think about Ellen Degeneres’ ability to judge American Idol contestants, everyone knows that no one can dance like the popular talk show host.
And her dance style is indeed legendary.
All joking aside, Ellen Degeneres did a great job. Â Although it seemed as if Twitch was slowing and pulling his moves to coincide with Ellen (and he probably was, which only proves how great a dancer Twitch actually is), she performed admirably. Â They incorporated several classic slapstick schticks (an ‘accidental’ punch to the face, another ‘accidental’ foot to the crotch) and made the routine one to remember.
The finale was replete with amazing routines, dance numbers chosen by the judges themselves from the season’s best performances.  The Ellen Degeneres performance was an excellent routine to bring the season finale to it’s most anticipated moment. After the surprise ‘dance legend’ completed her number with Twitch and plugged National Dance Day, “So You Think You Can Dance” crowned their Season 7 winner (and another surprise): Lauren Froderman.
