Although Erin Andrews got most of the media attention during “Dancing With the Stars” Season 10 (2010) because of her recent past (the peephole video) and the subsequent death threats, when the final votes were counted, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and Olympic medalist Evan Lysacek finished ahead of her in the final vote. Â And even though the top two dancing couples battled neck and neck throughout the season, Nicole Scherzinger (and her professional dance partner, Derek Hough) was the ultimate winner of the disco ball trophy for Season 10 of “Dancing With The Stars.”
In the final episode, the three couples chose to reprise their an Argentine tango from earlier in the season as the final dance. Â The scores from the performances were added to the scores from the Monday night and the votes cast by the viewers. Â In the final round, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough took the top score. Â “Dancing With The Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told the couple, “You guys are truly artistry in motion.”
Erin Andrews and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, were eliminated earlier in the show, leaving Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek to dance one more time. Â Nicole Scherzinger danced a jive number. Â Evan Lysacek and his partner, Anna Trebunskaya, performed a quickstep routine.
In the end, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough won by a score of 115-108. Â The victory was Derek Hough’s second win.
Evan Lysacek showed great sportsmanship in the lost. “It’s been such a blast. We were totally satisfied with everything we gave in these last few week. Â And we’re so proud of Nicole and Derek. They worked so hard and they deserve it.”
Erin Andrews told “Dancing With The Stars” host Tom Bergeron after she was eliminated (the winner had yet to be announced), “I came here under really crummy circumstances, and I just wanted to get my life together and my smile back. Â I just wanted to be myself again … and you guys have been amazing and my family — and this one [Maksim] — has just put my life back together.”
Erin Andrews had agreed to do “Dancing With The Stars” after going through the ordeal of a video scandal where a stalker, David Michael Barrett, had secretly filmed her naked in hotel rooms and posted the “peephole video” onto the internet. Â Barrett was arrested in October and sentenced to 30 months in jail.
Week after week, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough remained the top or second-to-the-top couple, as couples were eliminated, from astronaut Buzz Aldrin to actress Shannen Doherty to NFL star Chad Ochocinco.  The couple established themselves as the couple to beat early in the competition, receiving a perfect score in their very first dance.
